Billboard
The title is written in large, bold capital letters and states ‘contents’ and is positioned at the top of the page so it is immediately noticeable. It is written in a font which possesses connotations of strength and solidity. It is written in a black colour against a white coloured background to allow it to stand out in contrast.
The magazine’s familiar slogan is included alongside the logo and it states ‘on the charts’ in capital letters. This is persuasive as it intrigues the reader to discover more about the charts. It is also memorable and will entice them to continue buying more issues of this magazine.
The page titles and numbers are organised into blocks to make it easier to read on the left-hand third of the page. They are in the form of a table; the page title in one column, the page number in the next, then a small description of what you can find on the page in the final column for ease of reading. The title and numbers are in bolder fonts to allow them to stand out to the reader.
The page descriptions are in the third column of the table to describe the articles which are exclusive to this issue of the magazine. They allow the reader to decide whether or not they wish to read the content on each page. The descriptions are intriguing and don’t give much away to entice the reader to discover more by reading the content.
The contents page is split into different sections depending on the content of each page. The sections include ‘Music’ and ‘Features’. The title of each section is written in a bold font to allow it to stand out. The sections allow the content to be organised to allow the reader to find their desired pages more easily.
The main image is larger than all other images on the page and it relates to the main story on the cover. It represents the prominent article which will attract fans of the artist to continue reading to discover more about her. The image has been photoshopped to remove the background so it can be placed on the white background of the contents page and fit in. There are also smaller images to relate to other pages from within the magazine to appeal to a wider audience and to draw more people’s attention to read the content.
The colour scheme consists of blue, grey and white. The blue colour is the brightest and most noticeable colour so it is used for the pieces of text which require to stand out the most. Furthermore, the colour scheme corresponds to the colour scheme of the front cover for added consistency.
All fonts used on the contents page are simple sans serif fonts to appeal to the target audience. However, the heading of each section is written in a bold, curly font to appear younger and appeal to the younger audience. Large, bold text is used for pieces of text that they wish to stand out so that they are more noticeable on the page.
